How you can help

Tell others about the Alliance

How many parents do you know? Do they know about Honest Education?

Tell them!

And if you're a man or woman of faith, tell your pastor, priest, bishop or rabbi about your stand for Honest Education. Getting opinion leaders to sign the Proclamation and promote the Alliance hastens our march to 1,000,000 signatures and beyond. More important, some of them will move their children to honest education, and some will even start a school to help more parents provide honest education for their children.

Write "Letters to the Editor"

Another way to promote honest education is by writing polite but pointed letters to the editors of the newspapers and magazines.

While there are many methods for making the case that politics and education don't mix, personal accounts and local statistics are particularly appealing to editors.

Of course, it helps the cause if you mention "The Alliance for the Separation of School & State" and our website address (https://HonestEdu.org)!

Here's a letter that does a great job of tying the case for separation to current events:

Dear Letters Editor:

California State spending is now over $25 billion more than it takes in taxes and fees. Public schools are the largest consumer of the State budget with K-12 alone constituting 48%. There are billions of investment dollars sitting on the sidelines while investor confidence recovers from 9-11, Enron and high-tech disasters. The California Teacher's Association will frantically resist any reductions in education establishment entitlements.

Now is the time to sell all the California Public Schools, Colleges and Universities to the highest bidders among the many private school development companies and private universities that already exist. Now is the opportunity for those companies to get the investment dollars they would need to fix the mess created by government, and return the schools to the role of education rather than indoctrination.

Then each school would be truly free and motivated to satisfy the needs of education consumers. Then parents would be truly free to vote with their dollars for the education they want for their children. No longer would their annual votes be nullified by the political process. No longer would they have to lie about their address to get their kids into a better school.

Now is the time for you to tell your elected representatives to separate school and state by privatizing education rather than increase taxes and utility bills to preserve the mess and drive more businesses and theirtax dollars from the State in a viscous cycle of economic decline.

Sincerely,
