Version 1.0 Last Update: 12/14/2003
SepCon2004
Washington, DC . . . Sunday-Tuesday, Nov. 20-22, 2004Our next major conference is scheduled at the sumptuous Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. on the Sunday-Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 20-22, 2004.
We have negotiated incredibly low room rates of $129 per night. You can call the Shoreham at (202) 234-0700 and reserve your room now. Why wait? You are not charged now . . . you've taken the first step in your planning to attend . . . you can even have that low price for some extra days if you want to make a family vacation of it . . . and you'll guarantee that you'll get one of the limited number of rooms at the discount rate.
Who's going to be there?
Not only will you meet some of the finest kitchen-table education thinkers and action-people from around the U.S., you'll meet many from around the world.
And, of course, you'll hear and meet some of the Big Name People, too. John Taylor Gatto is already committed. I'll hold the names of some of the others we're inviting to speak until they're confirmed, but you'd be surprised if you knew their names . . . one of the most famous actors in the world and one of the most well known men in the legal profession. Keep your fingers crossed!!
Another delightful aspect of all SepCons is that we invite our adversaries to attend, treat them with respectindeed, appreciationand give them opportunity to "respond" to our speakers and mix it up a bit with attendees during breaks and meals. It is always big fun to meet opponents and politely discuss our different views on education. Several of us have created such amiable relationships with opponents that we continue the discourse for years by phone and email.
Soon, we'll be setting the price of attendance. In the past it has ranged from $150 (family rate, with even lower rates for teens), to $300. SepCon2004 will be in the same range, but it will take until March, 2004, for me to pin down our costs and (hopefully) secure some extra underwriting from major donors. So, bear with me, please.
NEW for SepCon2004The final day, Tuesday, Nov. 22, will be a half-day and will feature "Sponsored Round Tables." Selected individuals will contribute $100 to sponsor an 80-minute "Round Table" that they will lead on a topic of their choice.
If you have a passion for a particular aspect of Honest Education and want to network with others from around the country, you can see how this is a golden opportunity for you. Of course, nobody can predict if you'll fill your table (ten maximum), but we plan to give you a 30-second spotlight in the opening session, plus put your topic and table # in the program.
To find out more, please email me, Marshall Fritz, at this special address: .
Lastly, you can pre-register and get an early-bird discount by emailing me at . Advance payment will be due only in July, long after you know the actual prices. And, you can cancel with a full refund as late as Oct. 20, and with just a $50 cancellation fee as late as the week before the conference.
